Dr Luísa Borges was educated at the University of the Azores, Portugal, where she took a degree in Scientific Biology. She taught biology during and after her degree for a total of nine years and then decided on a career change. She moved to the UK and took a PhD in Marine Wood Boring Organisms at the University of Portsmouth. Luísa has since been working as a marine biologist on a number of projects and authored over forty research articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals and conference proceedings (https://cubic-l.science/about.html). In her spare time, Luísa loves walking, swimming, fossil-hunting, playing Bridge with friends, and is constantly on the lookout for new vegetable soup recipes. She lives in Germany, with her husband and daughter.
